AGE_IN_YEARS

The biological characteristics that define humans as female, male or intersex.

Ethnic group classifies the person according to their own perceived ethnic group and cultural background

ADMISSION_DATE

DISCHARGE_DATE

Specialty of the consultant/GP/HCP in charge of the patient episode. The specialty is the division of medicine or dentistry covering a specific area of clinical activity identified within one of the Royal Colleges or Faculties.

SPECIALTY

A significant facility is a type of clinical facility which is identified for clinincal and/or costing purposes.

SIGNIFICANT_FACILITY

Indicates the patient type and the pattern of bed use of a patient.

MANAGEMENT_OF_PATIENT

Patient's status regarding payment for NHS services.

PATIENT_CATEGORY

Type of inpatient admission. This is categorised as an emergency, urgent or routine inpatient admission.  The appropriate admission category depends on the clinical condition of the patient as assessed by the receiving consultant.  The patient may or may not be on a waiting list.

ADMISSION_TYPE

Admission reason indicates the general reason why a patient is admitted for inpatient or day case care.

ADMISSION_REASON

Discharge type indicates whether a discharge from an inpatient or day case episode is regular, irregular (e.g. self-discharge) or as a result of the patient's death.

DISCHARGE_TYPE

The main condition at discharge is the diagnosis most relevant to the length of stay. ICD10 code

The main type of care the patient has received during this episode of psychiatric care.

This is the reference number of any building or set of buildings where the event took place.

LOCATION

Episode level data on patients who are receiving care at psychiatric hospitals at the point of both admission and discharge.
