Description:
Ofqual data is linked to DfE and UCAS data.
Ofqual data details GCSE and A level qualifications and examinations taken by students (all ages in England, 2017-2024) and includes subject, tier of entry and granular data on students’ attainment. It also has indicators of students’ prior attainment, their demographics and qualification grade boundaries. The datasets for:
• 2017-2019 and 2022-2024, when exams were taken normally, has qualification grades and marks (incl. post-review grades)
• 2020 has Centre Assessment Grades and calculated grades from the standardisation model, which were used to determine the awarded grade
• 2021 has Teacher Assessment Grades
UCAS data is based on the information gathered to operate the university admissions process. This includes data submitted by applicants to the UCAS undergraduate scheme and by the HE provider (HEP) receiving prospective students’ applications. UCAS data has 3 tables:
• applicant - demographic and socio-economic characteristics
• qualifications - declared by the applicant in their application, including predicted A level grades
• applications - for each application made by an applicant, the decision made by each HEP, and the reply from the applicant
DfE National Pupil Database (all pupils in schools, England, up to age 19). DfE
data has 3 datasets:
• pupil-level exam results by qualification taken for Key Stages 4 and 5, covering A levels, GCSE and other general and vocational/technical qualifications including aggregated achievement indicators and pupils' prior attainment
• pupil data – demographics, free school meal eligibility, special educational needs, socio-demographic characteristics and socio-economic indicators
• exam centres – type of school or institution, main language (English and Welsh) and school admissions policy
